| Grapes: TOURIGA NACIONAL, TOURIGA FRANCESA OG TINTA RORIZ. Color: Very dark red, violet, black, deep. Nose: Concentrated ripe black cherry, black plum going on prune, almonds, almost marsipan, some syrup beef stock, hazelnuts and some walnuts, mocca, black pepper, slightly of violet or rose flowers. Palate: Full to big body, very good fruit, concentration, quite a lot of tannins but they are smooth and fine, the tannins gives the wine a good structure for many years of aging, smooth and nice yet powerful, good balancing acidity. Long yet firm finish, with nice acidity. Foodmatch: Powerful game with fruitbased rich sauces, fat chocolate desserts, strong cheese, stilton, peppersteak with portsauce. Cellaring: Since this is a traditional LBV port, which means it is not filtered, it will age good for 0-20 years. I believe it has the structure for this. Maybe better if the wine had a little more acidity, but the quite mouthfull of tannins camouflage the acidity in this wines early stage I think. Super value | |
