Dr. Heger Spätburgunder 1999, Trocken QBA
from Ihringen/Kaiserstuhl (Baden). 13.5% alc.
Color: Ruby red with a hint of brown/dark red rim
Nose: Warm with blackberry overtones and cherries. Wood.
Palate: Medium bodied good fruit which seems to have been balanced by 4-5 years in the bottle. Very subtle oak and long finish. Associations to earth, oak and red berries.
One of Kaiserstuhl's best producers, Dr.Hegel has managed to make a very interesting Spätburgunder which I'm sorry I didn't buy more of back in 2001.
Purchased at Thomas Daiber Weinfachgeschäft in Freiburg (Breisgau) in 2001. Price about € 30-50. Well worth it! :-D
